Chubby Cheeks & 6 Degrees
Why is it that I have to gain weight so prominently in my cheeks? I always know I'm gaining weight when my cheeks hit my sunglasses. Oh well...there are times to be chubby and times not to be. Today, my friend Jess came in to visit so we got some Mexican at little Mexican restaurant I like. You go in and it feels super cozy and the food comes out about 37 seconds after you put your order in.
I asked the waiter if he wanted to get in the picture and as you can see, he got in all right. So funny. The busboy did a pretty good job taking it after I kept saying, "No mueve!" Don't move! I don't know if it's my cheeks and round face, but latino people seem to have an affinity for me. My spanish stinks, but if I use a little, they start chattering away. I'm stuck saying, "Que?" all the time and asking them to slow down. One time, I walked into a restaurant and the lady started speaking Spanish to me. I was kind of puzzled. What...do I look like a latina ? I like it though.
My friend, Jess, is visiting from out of town. We were both tired because we didn't get enough sleep. My other friend, who's also named Jess, but Italian, decided to stop by last night just as about to go beddy-by. We had a good catch-up time and it was fun. One time, Jess' mom came into town and we went out to eat. I asked a latino kitchen worker to take a picture of us. I told him to just get the faces because I don't like it when it's too far away. He was tickled to be asked and kept giggling. The picture you see is the result of my instructions. That is my eyeball in the left corner. He got just faces and that's about it.
This pic is me, Jess and my roommate Rachel on the right. She's a cutie...a cutie from Corea. Notice the guy in the background and the look on his face. He is probably horrified by the mound of desserts the girls brought in a very well-meaning way, but looked entirely gluttonous. Too bad that's not in the pic. It was gross.
Then I've got another friend named Rachel who's moving down to my neighborhood from Nova Scotia, Canada in a couple of weeks. I have no idea why the pic is coming out that like.
She has a friend that already moved down the street from me who's name is Noelle (sorry, no pic) and that is very close to mine, so how's that for 6 degrees of separation? You try doing that when you have a name like mine and span four countries doing it (US, Canada, Korea, Italy:).
That's just a few of the wonderful people in my life. I need to go to sleep to make up for last night. But before I do, I can't resist putting one more in. This is Deloris. She's so full of life, caring and energetic and her story is amazing. We went into a hip little clothing store together once and she started laughing at this one peasant-style dress that they were selling and is in because she used to wear them when she was young. I'll have to tell you more about her sometime. She rocks.
Hope y'all had a good weekend! If you want more pics, I've added some to previous posts. You can click on "Photos" at the right to view. Enjoy. Adios y buenas noches!
